Adeline Andre
In 1970, after receiving her diploma from the School of the Syndicate Chamber of Parisian Couture, Fashion Designer Adeline Andre entered the House of Christian Dior as assistant to Mr. Marc Bohan for the Haute Couture collections. On August 27th, 1981, Adeline Andre registered the pattern of her “three sleeve-hole” garment at the I.N.P.I. National Institute of Industrial Property in Paris and on February 26th, 1982 at the W.I.P.O. World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva.

Alber Elbaz

Alexander McQueen
Born: 1969, London UK.
In October 1996, taxis driver’s son Alexander McQueen was named Best British Designer of the Year for the first time. Arriving at Givenchy, McQueen had the hubris to slam its founder, Hubert de Givenchy, as “irrelevant”. However, his first collection for the couture house was universally slated even by McQueen himself.

Quote: I don’t come from money, so I don’t respect that kind of attitude…there is no style in gloating about money. On his first collection for the house of Givenchy, he said: I know it was crap.

Alice Roi
Born in 1976, Alice Roi received her bachelor’s degree in fine arts from New York University. She continued her studies at Parsons School of Design. After that she held various posts at Elle and Fashion Group International.
Alice is very creative and decided to set up her own label. After three years, the house already represents a new sense of New York style. Her clothes and accessories have appeared on the coveted covers and pages of Bazaar, Elle, and Nylon magazines and style bibles ID and V. Her first collection was immediately picked up by Kirna Zabete one of the leading stores in New York. Alice Roi was nominated to the pretigous award of Fashion Designers of America’s Perry Ellis Award for Womenswear in 2001. She continous her creative work in her Manhattan studio.

Angela Missoni
Born: 1958, Milan, Italy.

Anna Sui
Born: 1955, Detroit, MI, U.S.A.

Anna Sui’s began dressing her dolls and her neighbor’s toy soldiers for her own personal version of the Academy Awards. She eventually extended her fashion interest to include designing her own clothes and clipping fashion magazine pages to serve as inspirations.

Azzedine Alaïa
Born: 1939, Tunis, Tunissia.

He studied sculpture, then worked for Dior and other designers before giving his first show in New York City (1982).
